Privacy Notice

BuildPedia is a reference website. We do not operate user accounts, comment systems or paywalls, and you can read every guide on this site without giving us anything.

There are two optional forms. The checklist form asks for your email address so we can release the printable checklist for that process, and has an optional tick box if you also want to hear about new guides. The newsletter form asks only for your email address so we can tell you when new guides publish. Both are optional - nothing on this site is gated behind anything else.

If you contact us by email, we will hold the personal data contained in your message (your email address, name if provided, and the contents of the email) for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry.

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages are read, how people arrive, and whether the guides are useful. It is provided by Google Ireland Limited and it sets cookies in your browser. We use it only to improve the content - we do not run advertising, we do not use it for ad personalisation, and we do not sell or share the data.

Google Analytics collects things like the pages you view, roughly where in the world you are, and what kind of device and browser you use. It does not log or store your full IP address, and we have not enabled any advertising features. We also record when someone downloads a checklist or signs up for new-guide emails, so we can tell which guides people actually find worth keeping.

This site sets no advertising cookies and no third-party marketing trackers. If you would rather not be counted, most browsers let you block cookies for a site, and Google publishes a browser add-on that opts you out of Google Analytics everywhere.

An email address given to the checklist form is used to send you that checklist. An email address given to the newsletter form, or with the optional tick box ticked, is also used to tell you when new guides publish - monthly at most, and every email has a one-click unsubscribe link.

Any personal data you send us by email is used only to respond to you and to manage any follow-up conversation. We do not sell, rent, share or disclose your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes, and we do not send unsolicited marketing email.

Form submissions are processed by Netlify, our hosting provider, and delivered to our own mailbox. Analytics data is processed by Google under their data processing terms.

Where the UK GDPR / EU GDPR applies: we rely on your consent for new-guide emails (you can withdraw it at any time using the unsubscribe link); on our legitimate interest in operating and improving an educational website for site analytics and for responding to enquiries; and on our legitimate interest in providing a document you asked for when we email you a checklist.

You have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data, to object to processing based on legitimate interests, and to complain to the relevant supervisory authority (in the UK, the Information Commissioner's Office). Where UAE data protection law applies, equivalent rights can be exercised by contacting us.

To exercise any of these rights, email us at the address below and we will respond within a reasonable period.

Email correspondence is retained only for as long as it is needed for the purpose it was sent, after which it is deleted. We apply reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect any personal data we hold.

We may update this privacy notice from time to time. The version published on this page is the version in force.
